Today we have Anshu come and explain the first few lines of the “Jai Ho” song from Slumdog Millionaire. She has a class on March 6, 2009 to explain the rest of the song. More details about that below:
First Sentence: aajaa aajaa jind shaamiyaane ke tale आजा आजा जिन्द शामियाने के तले
aajaa – आजा come
jind – जिन्द jindagii (life)
shaamiyaanaa – शामियाना tent
ke tale – के तले under
Meaning of first sentence: Come , my life, come under my wings or under my canopy or under my shelter so I can protect you.
Second Sentence: aajaa zari vale neele aasamaan ke tale आजा ज़रीवाले नीले आसमान के तले
aajaa: आजा come
zarivaale – ज़रीवाले fine brocade embroidery done with gold, silver or silk thread.
Neele – नीले blue
aasmaan – आसमान sky
Come under the ornated decorated blue sky. Come with me to my decorated life full of love.
