Past Perfect Tense – पूर्ण भूतकाल (Purn Bhootkaal)

Purn Bhootkaal refers to an action that had happened in the long past. It denotes a past action that had been completed in the past. It is formed by adding था (tha), थे (the),थी (thi) or थीं (thim) to the verb of samanya bhootkaal.

examples:

आया था (aaya tha), आये थे (aaye the), आयी थी (aayee thi), आयी थीं (aayee thim)

चला था (chala tha), चले थे (chale the), चली थी (chali thi), चली थीं (chali thim) 

I had gone  
मैं गया था/गयी थी
Main gaya tha/gayi thi

We had gone
हम गये थे/गयी थीं
Hum gaye the/gayi thim

You had gone
तुम गये थे/ गयी थी
Tum gaye the/gayi thi

He had gone                          
वह गया था
Vah gaya tha

She had gone
वह गयी थी
Vah gayi thi

They had gone
वे गये थे
Ve gaye the

I had never seen such a beautiful beach.
मैं इतनी खूबसूरत समुद्र तट कभी नहीं देखा था
Main itani koobsoorat samudra tat kabhi nahin dekha tha

I had lost my wallet.
मैं अपना बटुआ खो दिया था
Main aapna batua kho diya tha

He had come this morning
वह आज सवेरे आया था
Vah aaj savere aaya tha

They had not eaten for five hours.
वह पाँच घंटे से नहीं खाए थे
Veh paanch ganthe se nahin khaye the

Where had she gone?
वह कहाँ गई थी?
Vah kahan gayi thi?

The train had left
रेलगाड़ी छुट गयी थी
relgaadi chut gayi thi

The movie had already begun.
फिल्म पहले ही शुरू हो गया था
Film pahale hi shuru ho gaya tha

I had gone shopping.
मैं खरीदारी करने गयी थी
Main kharidari karne gayi thi

We had left by the time you arrived.
जब तक आप पहुँचे, हम निकल चुके थें
Jab tak aap pahunche, hum nikal chuke them

I had gone to Mumbai (last year)
पिछले साल मैं मुंबई गया था
Pichale saal main Mumbai gaya tha
