Try asking someone for a sieve without using the word for it.  Unless it is between people who have mastered tth game of charades, it can be a very frustrating experience.  This is true with about anything, and that is why having a rich vocabulary to able to ask for things by name will be useful when visiting India.  This lesson covers the vocabulary related to several common kitchen items.
