SOME USEFUL SENTENCES
1. आप कैसीं हैं? – a female is being asked.
(Aap kaisee hain?)
How are you? (with respect)
2. क्या आप अंग्रेज़ी बोलते हैं?
(Kya aap Angreji bolte hain?)
Do you speak English?
3. आप से मिलकर अच्छा लगा|
(aap se milkar acchaa lagaa.)
Nice to meet you.
4. मैं ठीक से हिंदी नहीं बोल सकता हूँ।
(Main Thiik se hindi nahiin bol saktaa huun)
I cannot speak Hindi well.
5. क्या आपको भारत पसंद है?
(kya aapko Bharat pasand hai?)
Do you like India?
6. भारत जैसा महान देश किसे पसंद नहीं होगा?
(Bhaarat jaisa mahaan desh kise pasand nahiin hogaa.
Who will not like a great country like, India?.
7. मैं भूखा एवं प्यासा हूँ | or मुझे भूख और प्यास लगी है|
(Mujhe bhookh aur pyaas lagee hai.)
I am hungry and thirsty.(or I am feeling hunger and thirst. )
8. मेरे दस गिनने तक तुम अवश्य पेड़ पर चढ़ जाना|
(Mere das ginane tak tum avashya perD par cadh jaanaa.)
You must climb up the tree by the time I count ten.
9. मुझे गुलाबी रंग पसंद है|
(Mujhe gulaabee rang pasand hai.)
I like the pink color.
10. सफ़ेद रंग शांति का प्रतीक है|
Ssafed rang shanti ka prateek hai.)
The white color is the symbol of peace.
11. खून का रंग लाल है|
(Khoon ka rang laal hai.)
The color of blood is red.
12. एक से दस तक गिनती एक मिनट में कहो|
(Ek sey das tak ginathi ek minute mein kaho.)
Say one to ten count in a minute.
13. कुत्ता घर की निगरानी करता है|
(Kutta ghar kee nigrani karta hai.)
The dog keeps vigil of the house.
You can also say रखवाली (Rakhwali) foनिगरानी Hindi word.
14. मेरे दादाजी का मैं सिर्फ एक पोता हूँ|
(Mere dadajee ka main sirf ek pota huun.)
I am the only grandson to my grandfather.
(Sirf also is called केवल –kewal in Hindi.)
15. आज मेरी दीदी अपने साथ छोटी बहन को लाएगी|
(Aaj Meri deedee apney saath chotee bahan ko laayegee.)
My elder sister would bring younger sister along with her today.
16. आज मेरा जन्म दिन है और में १६ वर्ष की हो गयी हूँ|
(Aaj mera janm din hai aur mein 16 varsh ki ho gayee huun.)
Today is my birth day and I have become 16 years old.
PS: gender is feminine
17. यदि बीस से पांच कम किया (घटाया) जाय, तो आपको पन्द्रह मिलेगा|
(Agar bees se paanch kam kiya (ghataya) jaay, to aapko pandrah milega.)
If five is reduced(subtracted) from twenty,then you would get fifteen.
18. अगर एक सौ को चार से भाग दें, तो हमें पच्चीस मिलता है|
(Agar ek Sau ko ko chaar sey bhaag dein to humein pacchis milta hai.)
If one hundred is divided by four, we get twenty five.
(BHAG (divide) is also known as विभाजन (vibhaajan))
19. कमरे से निकलने के पहले मैं हमेशा पंखों को बंद कर देती हूं। – feminine
(Kamre se nikalney ke pahley main hamesha pankon ko band kar deti huun.)
Before leaving the room, I always turn (switch) off the fans.
20. अगर हम आठ से नौ को गुणा करें, तो बहत्तर (७२) जवाब (उत्तर) होगा|
(Agar hum aath se nau ko guna karein, tow bahattar (72) jawab (uttar) hoga.)
If we multiply eight with nine, the answer (response ) will be seventy two (72).
21. मैं मधुमेह के कारण चीनी (शक्कर) के बिना कॉफी पीता हूँ|
(Main madhumeh key kaaran cheenee (shakkar) ke bina coffee peeta huun.)
I drink coffee without sugar due to diabetes.
22. केला में कैल्शियम प्रचुर मात्रा में पाया जाता है|
(Kela mein calcium prachur maatra mein paaya jaata hai.)
The calcium is found in abundance in banana.
23. कुत्ता अज्ञात (अनजान) ब्यक्ति को देख कर भौंकता है|
Kutta agyaat (anjaan) byakti ko dekhar bhaunkta hai.)
The dog barks seeing the unknown person.
24. कृपया वस्त्र (पोशाक) धारण करें|
(Kripya vastra (poshaak) dhaaran karen.)
Please wear the dress.
25. बहुत ठंड है,इसलिए कृपया स्वेटर उतारे मत|
(bahut Thand hai, isliye krpaya sweater ootarey mat.)
It is very cold, hence, please do not take off (remove) the sweater.
26: उसका घर पुराना है|
(Uska ghar puraana hai.)
His house is old.
27. मैं बिस्तर पर पड़ा / पड़ी हूँ|
(Main bistar par pada/padi huun.)
I am confined to the bed. (Masculine/Feminine)
28. मैं हमेशा टपकते नलों को बंद करता हूँ|
(Main hamesha tapakatey nalon ko band karta hun.)
I always turn off dripping taps.
29. मैं कागज के दोनों ओर लिखता हूँ|
(Main kaagaj ke donon ore likhta huun.)
I always write on both sides of the paper.
(तरफ = taraf is another word for “side”.)
30. बाजार जाते समय मैं हमेशा कपड़े का थैला अपने साथ रखती हूँ।
(Baazaar jaate samay main hamesha kapdey ka tthaila apney saath rakhti huun.)
I always keep a cloth bag while going to the market . (“I” in this sentence refers to a female.)
31. क्या आज का समाचार पत्र (अखबार) आ गया?
(Kya aaj ka samaachaar patra (akhbaar) aa gaya?)
Did today’s newspaper come?
32. खटिया हल्का है|
(Khatiya halka hai.)
The cot is light.
33. जन्मदिन की बधाई काफी है और कोई उपहार की आवश्यकता नहीं है|
(Janmdin ki badhaai kaafee hai aur koi uphaar ki aavashyakta nahin hai.)
The birthday wish is enough and there is no need for any gift/present.
34. मेरी कहानी ख़त्म हो गई|
(Meri kahani khatm ho gai.)
My story has ended.
35. इसका उद्देश्य क्या है?
(Iska udhyesh kya hai?)
What is it’s purpose?
36. किताबों को संभाल कर रखना चाहिए|
(Kitaabon ko sambhaal kar rakhna chahiye.)
The books should be kept carefully.
37. खिलौना टूट गया|
(Khilauna toot gayaa.)
The toy broke.
38. राम एक गीत गुनगुना रहा है|
(Ram ek geet gunguna raha hai.)
Ram is humming a song.
39. क्या हम सब घर चलेंगे?
(Kya Hum sab ghar chalengey?)
Shall we all go home?
40. मैंने आज एक नयी चप्पल ( slipper) की दुकान देखी है|
(Maine aaj ek nayee chappal ki dukan dekhee hai.)
I have seen a new sandal shop today.
41. मेरी चाबी खो गई है|
(Meree chaabi kho gai hai.)
My key is lost.
42. छुरी (चाकू) की धार तेज की जा रही है|
(CHhuri (chaku) ki dhaar tej kee jaa rahee hai.)
The dagger (knife) is being sharpened.
43. पुरुष का छाता काले रंग का एवं बड़ा होता है|
(Purush ka chaata kaale rang ka evam bad hota hai.)
Men’s umbrella is black in color and big .
44. उसकी छतरी गीली है|
(Uskee chatree geelee hai.)
Her umbrella is wet.
45. मेरा जन्म दिन हर चार साल में एक बार मनाया जाता है|
(Mera janm din har char saal mein ek baar manaaya jaata hai.)
My birthday is celebrated once in every four years.
46. इस जमीन की कीमत क्या होगी?
(Is jameen ki keemat kya hogee?)
What would be the price of this land ?
47. मनुष्यों को जानवरों के साथ अच्छा बर्ताव करना चाहिए |
(Manushyon ko jaanvaron ke saath accha bartaav karna chahiye.)
The men (Human beings ) should behave well with animals.

What will be the answer to this question ?
49. वह पूरी रात सोयी | - feminine
(Vah pooree raat soyee.)
She slept the whole night .
50. मैं वह नहीं समझा सकता हूँ|
(Main vah nahin samajhaa sakta huun.)
I cannot explain that.
51. कहाँ तक हमें जाना पड़ेगा?
(Kahaan tak hamein jaanaa padegaa.)
How far will we have to go?
52. तुम क्यों मुझे तंग कर रहे हो ?
(Tum kyon mujhe tang kar rahe ho?)
Why are you bothering (pestering/harassing/troubling) me ?
53. मैं पानी पीता था|
(Main pani pita thaa.)
I used to drink water.
54. मैं परीक्षा में उतीर्ण हो गया/गयी|
(Main pareeksha mein uteern ho gayaa/gayee)
I passed in the examination. (If “I” refers to a male, use गया (gayaa).
If “I” refers to a female, use गयी (gayee.)
55. उसने एक सेब खाया|
(unsney ek seb khaaya.)
He ate an apple.
56. मैंने पिछले/गत सप्ताह एक चलचित्र देखा|
(Maine pichley/gat saptaah ek chalchitr dekha.)
I saw a film last week .
57. वह आज/कल बस/रेल/टैक्सी से आयी|
(Vah aaj/kal bus/rail/taxi se aayii)
(She came today/yesterday by bus/train/taxi.)
58. हम कल मंदिर /गिरिजा घर जायेंगे|
(Ham kal mandir/girija jayenge.)
We will go to the temple/church tomorrow.
