एक बार (once) दो बिल्लियाँ कहीं जा रही थी |
(Ek baar do billiyan kahin jaa raheein theein. )
Once two cats were going somewhere.
उन्हें रास्ते में (enroute) एक रोटी (bread) मिली |
(Unhein rastey mein ek rotee milee. )
They got a bread enroute(in the way).
उनमें झगडा होने लगा |
( Unmein jhagada honay laga.)
They started fighting(quarreling).
दोनों कहने लगी , पहले (before) मैने रोटी देखी (saw) है , इसलिए मैं खाउंगी | (Donon kahnay lagee, Pahlay mainay rotee dekhee hai, isliye main khaungee.)
Both started saying, I have seen the bread before , therefore I will eat..
उनका झगडा सुनकर एक बन्दर (monkey) वहां आ गया |
(Unka jhagada sunkar ek Bandar vahan aa gaya.)
Hearing their fight, a monkey came in there.
PS: कपि = Kapi or वानर =Vaanar also means monkey in Hindi.
उसने बिल्लियों से कहा (told) |
(Usnay billiyon se kaha.)
He told the cats.
तुम दोनों झगडा (quarrel) मत करो |
( Tum donon mat jhagada mat karo.)
You two(both) do not quarrel.
मैं इस रोटी को दो टुकड़ों में बाँट (divide) देता हूँ |
(Main is rotee ko do tukadon mein baant deta huun.)
I will divide this bread into two pieces.
तुम दोनों एक एक हिस्सा खा लेना |
(Tum donon ek ek hissa khaa lena.)
You both eat a share each .
बन्दर ने उस रोटी (bread) को दो हिस्सों में तोड़ दिया (broke) |
( Bandar nay oos rotee ko dow hisson mein toade diya. )
The monkey broke the bread into two pieces
लेकिन रोटी के दो हिस्से (parts) बराबर (equal) नहीं थे |
(Lekin rotee kay dow hissay barabar nahin they.)
But the bread was not in two equal parts.
ओह , यह एक हिस्सा (part) तो छोटा हो गया , बन्दर ने बिल्लियों से कहा |
( Oh, yah to ek hissa to chota ho gay, Bandar nay billiyon se kaha. )
Oh , It became a small part, “Monkey said to the cats.
चिंता (worry) मत (not) करो (do), मैं अभी इन टुकड़ों (pieces) को बराबर (equal) कर देता हूँ |
(Chinta mat karo, main abhee in tokadon ko barabar kar deta huun._
Do not worry, I will just make the equal pieces .
बन्दर ने बडे हिस्से से एक निवाला (कौर) खा लिया |
(Bandar nay badey hissey se ak niwala(kaur) khaa liya.)
The monkey ate a morsel from the big piece.
लेकिन (but) अब (now) वह (that) हिस्सा छोटा (small) हो गया |
( Lekin ab vah hissa chota ho gaya)
. But now that part became small.
फिर बन्दर नें दूसरे हिस्से में से एक टुकड़ा (piece) खा लिया |
(Phir Bandar nein doosray hissay mein se ek tukda kkaa liya. )
Then monkey ate a piece from the second part.
लेकिन अब एक हिस्सा ज्यादा (much) छोटा हो गया |.
(Lekin ab ek hissa jyada chhota ho gaya. )
But now one part became much smaller.
ऐसे करते करते बन्दर सारी (entire) रोटी खा गया |
Aisay kartay kartay Bandar saree rotee khaa gaya.
Doing like this, monkey at the entire bread.
तब (then) बिल्लियों को अक्ल (sense) आयी कि उन्हें मिलकर रहना चाहिए |
(Tab billiyon to akl aayee ki unhein milkar rahna chahiye. )
Then the cats came to the sense, that they should live together.
सबक ( what lesson do you get from this?)
एक दूसरे से लड़ने(fight) का नतीजा (result) बुरा (bad) होता है |
(Ek doosray say ladnay ka nateeja bura hota hai. )
Or you can say in Hindi
(आपस में झगडने का परिणाम (result) बुरा होता है|)
Aaapas mein jhagadnay ka parinaam bura hota hai.
The result of fighting with each other turns out to be bad.
आपस में झगडने से किसी तीसरे (third) व्यक्ति (person) को लाभ (benefit) पहुंचेगा | (Aapas mein jhagadnay se kisee teesray vyakti ko laabh pahunchega?)
A third person will be benefitted with eatch other’s quarrel(fight).
मूर्खता (stupidity) कोई काम (work) नहीं आती |
(Moorkhta (foolishness) koyee kaam nahin aatee. )
Stupidity does not do any help(work.).
