एक सिपाही था |
(Ek sipahee tha)
There was a police man(cop)
वह एक बुढ़िया के घर पहुंचा|
(Vah ek budhiya key ghar pahuncha.)
He reached the house of an old woman.
उसने उससे कहा कि वह आराम करना चाहता है |
(Usney usasey kaha ki vah aaraam karna chahta hai.)
He told her that he wants to relax.
वह सिपाही को घर के अन्दर ले गई |
(Vah sipahee ko ghar key andar le gayee.)
She took the cop in the house.
थोड़ी देर आराम करने के बाद उसने उससे खाने के लिए कुछ माँगा |
(Thodee deyer aaraam karney ke bad usney ussay khaney ke liye kuchh maanga. )
After taking rest for a while, he asked her to give something to eat.
वह कंजूस थी |
(Vah kanjoos tthe.)
She was stingy
उसने कह दिया कि उसके पास खाने के लिए कुछ नहीं है |
(Usnay kah diya kie uskay paas khaney ke liye kuch nahinhai .)
She told that she does not have anything to eat.
आँगन में आकर सिपाही ने एक ढेला उठाया |
(Aaangan mein aakar siphaee ne ek delha oothaya.)
The cop picked up a stone after coming to the courtyard.
फिर उसने कहा कि मैं इस पत्थर को पका कर खाऊँगा |
(Phir usney kaha kie main is patthar kop aka kar khaunga.)
Then he told her that I will eat this stone after cooking.
बुढ़िया हैरान हुई|
(Budhiya hairaan huyee.
The old woman was shocked.
उसने सिपाही को एक पतीला और कलछुल दी |
(Usnay siphaee ko ek pateela aur kalachul thee.)
She gave a cooking pan(scuttle) and ladle to the cop.
सिपाही ने पत्थर पतीले में डाल दिया |
(Sipahee nay patthar pateeley mein daal diya.)
The cop put the stone in the pan.
उसने कुछ पानी उबालने के लिए रख दिया |
(Usney kucch panee oobalney ke liye rakh diya. )
He kept some water for boiling..
सिपाही ने फिर थोडा चावल और एक चुटकी नमक माँगा|
Sipahee ney phir thoda chaawal aur ek chute namak maanga.
The cop then asked for some rice and a pinch of salt.
सिपाही ने उन वस्तुओं को भी उस पतीले में डाल दिया |
(Sipharee ney un vastuon ko bhee us pateeley mein daal diya.)
The cop put those items also in the pan.
सिपाही फ़िर बोला कि अब केवल घी की कमी रह गई है|
(Sipaee phir bola kie ab kewal ghee kee kamee rah gayee hai.)
The cop then said that now only the clarified butter is lacking.
बुढ़िया तुरंत बोली कि घी तो मेरे पास है |
(Budhiya turant bole kie ghee to merey paas hai.)
The old woman instantly said that I have clarified butter.
सिपाही ने उसकी आँख बचाकर पतीले में से पत्थर निकालकर बाहर फेंक दिया |
(Sipahee nay uskee aankh bachakar pateelay mein se patthar nikaalkar bhaar phenk diya.)
The cop removed the stone from the pan, escaping from her eyes and threw out.
तब सिपाही ने कुछ खाना उसके लिए और कुछ अपने लिए परोसा |
(Tab sipahee ney kuch khaana apney liye aur kuch uskay liye parosa.)
Then the cop served some food for her and for himself.
बुढ़िया ने खाना खाया तो कहने लगी कि मैं तो सोच भी नहीं सकती थी कि पत्थर इतने स्वादिष्ट होते हैं |
(Budhiya ney khaana khaaya to kahney lagee ki main to soch bhee nahin saktee thee ki patthar itney swadisht hotey hain.)
When the old woman ate the food ,then started saying that I could never imagine that stones are so tasty/delicious.
