ॐ (OM):Om or Aum (also
Auṃ (help·info), written universally as ॐ, in Devanāgari as ओ३म् or ओम् in Sanskrit known as praṇava प्रणव (lit. “to sound out loudly”),Omkara, or Auṃkāra (also as Aumkāra) ओंकार (lit. “Auṃ form/syllable”), is a sacred or mystical syllable in most Dharmic or religions, specificallyHinduism, Jainism and Mahayana Buddhism.
Om is pronounced as ओ३म् where ३ is Pluti, (indicating a length of three morae) (long or over-long nasalized close-mid back rounded vowel, [õːː]), like OOOM, दीर्घ O, though there are other enunciations adhered to in received traditions. It is placed at the beginning of most Hindu texts as a sacred incantation to be intoned at the beginning and end of a reading of the Vedas or prior to any prayer or mantra. The Māndukya Upanishad is entirely devoted to the explanation of the syllable. The syllable consists of three phonemes, a Vaishvanara,[1] u Hiranyagarbha and m Iswara, which symbolize the beginning, duration, and dissolution of the universe and the associated gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, respectively.[2] The name Omkara is taken as a name of God in the Hindu revivalist Arya Samaj and can be translated as “I Am Existence”[citation needed].
The mantra “OM” is the name of God, the vibration of the Supreme. When taken letter by letter, A-U-M represents the divine energy (Shakti) united in its three elementary aspects: Bhrahma Shakti (creation), Vishnu Shakti (preservation) and Shiva Shakti (liberation, and/or destruction)

Believe me for any new learners, I pick up this first(lesson 331) , start teaching Hindi on line. It has generated lot of interest to
the new learners.
Any time for any clarification, please do write to me.
Now I am sharing some of my opinion/facts here.
1. MY mother tongue is Tamil. I was brought up in Bihar (Ranchi-Jharkhand) for 30 + years. I studied in Hindi medium till
graduation. I served a US NGO http://www.care.org for 29 years in India. It was Mr. Nathan owner of this site, contact me &
I immediately agreed to do my best. I wanted a platform to share my knowledge on Hindi.
2. I wanted for my livelihood also to teach Hindi and share contents via lessons due to passion and reach maximum people in this globe.
3. Hindi is going to be a language which will be certainly spoken by maximum people in the world in the future.I am confident
already 60 Crore ( certainly 50% of India’s population+ those living abroad.).are conversing in Hindi.
4. You will know the importance of Hindi in my lesson no.36. I have an equal respect for English which helps to convey the message
what I want to share in Hindi to new Hindi learners(via transliteration./translation).Without English, this was impossible.
5. Due to business, education, cross cultural interest, tourist and other reasons people have greater interest in Hindi which is increasing
rapidly day by day.
6. Gujarati is another sweet language ( I worked in Gandhinagar for 6 months in 1994). One of the highly prospered /developed
states in India. I did work in 2001 for sometime in Bhuj & Bachao after the earthquake struck there. There may be sites teaching
Gujarati. Please do check. If I am able to get relevant site for Gujarati, I will certainly share with you all.
7. Hindi (Devanagari script) is ancient( Aryan language) ie. 5000 years old and spoken/written by maximum people in India currently.
This language will certainly help you to know more about India when you travel to India + if you know English then one can enhance
his/her knowledge about India, culture, food, clothes, history, religion more and more, soon.
To be honest with you, I will be glad , like Ispeakhindi.com site, if Ispeakgujarati.com, Ispeaktamil.com…so on all Indian
languages ( in fact, will be delighted to have world’s all the languages related sites on similar fashion/pattern) are available
for the benefit of mass.. I am aware that there are several sites , institutes, online teaching facilities/colleges
for many languages,already there.
One would face only in the beginning only the horizontal line problem , once you are conversant with writing the Devanagari alphabets,
automatically, you will be able to write with ease. Please do check http://www.avashy.com which may help for the convenience of writing, Devanagari.
I appreciate your concern.
Have a wonderful day,
with love and affection.

Dear Ken:
Thanks for sharing the above link,http://saralhindi.wordpress.com/,which I shared with my friends. I am sure there are several people in the world keen to learn Gujarati.
(Script/conversation etc.). Hope you had a look at my comments/opinion. Thanks again for all the support. Regards, Suresh.
Mr.Suresh,
You are a good teacher.
In Gujarat Hindi is taught in High school. Most of Gujarati people know Hindi related to business.Hindi is taught in all Indian states schools at state’s local expenses except in Tamilnaadu. The problem is that Hindi states are not willing to learn other state languages.
Most Indian states don’t want to give up their state language scripts but they can learn Hindi in local state language or in IAST Roman Script. This way each state will have two languages script formula.
As long as Urdu is not written in Devanagari Script,Hindi will not be popular in non Hindi states.
Gujarati Script is simple modified scrip of Devanagari Script. Why not adopt this simple script without horizontal lines in writing Hindi.
People in Gujarat do write Sanskrit Shlokas in Gujarati Script.
If Gujarat and other States can learn Devanagari Script in schools why not Hindi states can learn simple Gujarati Script?
In a modern world a language script may disappear like MODI Script(Marathi) if not made simple and translatable using simple words. If China can simplified it’s writing script why not Hindi script can be simplified by using Gujarati Script or Roman script? For foreigners, Gujarati script is lot more easier to learn than Hindi Script.
Think,Why most Hindi song lyrics are written in English but not in Hindi?
People don’t mind learning non-technical Hindi but India needs one easy Script for all languages and that’s Gujarati Script. But let the people of India decide what they want.
Thanks.

Dear Ken:
I really appreciate your feelings and you have raised several vital points.
Bollywood songs are normally written in Hindi only. There are several actors
(new one, even from abroad), may not be fully conversant with Hindi so
transliteration in English helps them
See my lesson: which talks about some of the important points of
Hindi:http://www.ispeakhindi.com/2010/12/03/lesson-36-%E0%A4%B9%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%82%E0%A4%A6%E0%A5%80-%E0%A4%95%E0%A4%BE-%E0%A4%AE%E0%A4%B9%E0%A4%A4%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%A4%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%B5-hindi-ka-mahatv-importance-of-hindi/
I have also picked up my response to a comment to above 36 No. lesson for you
here:which you may like:For All Hindi newspaper, without knowing Hindi,
( that to expertise in Politics, sports, movies, finance field,
may be with journalism qualification etc.) you can not get the job in India .
2. In all Hindi speaking states, major focus is on Hindi when letters/mails
etc. are typed. Dictations are given in Hindi. Note sheets are
prepared in Hindi.( I have personally seen in Bihar, though worked for NGO,
but work in collaboration with Govt. of Bihar with
various departments.)
3. All Hindi medium schools ( I am a student of Heavy Engineering Corporation,
school of Hindi medium), without knowing Hindi
none of the teachers would have got employment. Believe me, till age 19 I
could not develop English conversational skills as
only I concentrated in Hindi all through( local environment was such) .
I studied in Hindi medium till graduation, naturally
most of teachers/professors taught the subjects ( Be it Economics,
Economic Development, Money & Banking or International
Trade, Auditing, etc.) in Hindi, barring subjects like
English/accountancy/cost accountancy.
4. There are millions of people in the world who want English or
from some other languages related translations to be done in Hindi,
tatooing etc.
5. Marriage /house warming and other invitation cards (millions) printed
in Hindi in most of the Hindi speaking states by general mass.
6. Hindi Books, note books are printed – Govt./Pvt. schools.
7. There are several Hindi interpreters required/available,/employed.
8. Bollywood movies in Hindi now famous all over world. Billions of Hindi
audio/video cassettes,,CD etc. have been sold are being sold.
9. If you know Hindi very well, can work as guide when foreigners visit
India ,especially if you know the details about the places, etc.
and can earn livelihood.
10. Hindi poem/poets /stories/writers/composers are/have earned only due to Hindi.
11. The great epics, Geeta, Mahabharata, Ramayan, Ramcharitmaanas etc.
( From Sanskrit, Avadhi etc. have been translated in Hindi so that common
man/needy persons can understand).
12. There were/are several great foreigners who have picked up Hindi so well,
written dictionary, books etc. in Hindi. ( I recall
Father Kamil Bulkey,-from Belgium, Ranchi Xaviers College).
(check:http://www.biharspider.com/resources/2664-Profile-Biodata-Biography-Father-Kamil.aspx)
13. Look at the no. of sites in web. dealing with Hindi.
You may like to see:http://hindiurduflagship.org/. There are many more.
14. All religious/tourist place of importance have enormous opportunity when you
know Hindi and subject related to local area.
15. If you are in South India, someone expects ( Your employer) you to
travel to North India, he wants you to be thorough
in Hindi( especially sales field.)
16. Govt./Pvt. there are several institutions which have generated huge
employment for Hindi speaking people.
17. You name anything, health,Vastu,Astrology,Yoga, cookery, education,
Bollywood, can check articles, web sites in
Hindi e.g. youtube (including social networks)
face book etc.
I also draw your kind attention to my lesson on Importance of
English:http://www.ispeakhindi.com/2011/03/16/suresh-lesson-80-%E0%A4%B9%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%A8%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%A6%E0%A5%80-%E0%A4%AA%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%A0-%E0%A4%B8%E0%A4%82%E0%A4%96%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%AF%E0%A4%BE-%E0%A5%AE%E0%A5%A6-%E0%A4%85%E0%A4%B8/
At the same time, if you know English, you will be able to explain the
beauty of Hindi ( the 5000 years ancient
Devanagari language.)- The divine language which is a phonetic language.
May be ,you are hinting at that Hindi alone won’t do. Today’s employer wants
his employee to know more languages,
education, skills(most important), work experience ( all can not have at
the beginner of their career.).
Believe me, I worked for a US NGO in India( Bihar) first in 1976 , the
foremost requirement was I must know Hindi
besides a requirement of a graduate.
But if a person is in Southern states of India, then Hindi may not
be requirement..( Depending upon situation,
individual/organization need, it can vary.)…….
To clarify further, the above essay was actually meant or the school
students who could use modify and write as per their need.
++++++++++++++++++++++++
Addl. points for you..
In India, you can manage very well if you know Hindi, English and
preferably the local language. One more pertinent point I wish
to state here that even Hindi or Tamil, or any other Indian
language/local dialects get changed which you will come to know
when travel to a few districts in the same state.
For example, spoken Tamil in Madurai/Tanjore/Tirunelvelli/Trichy,
will be slightly different compared to what is spoken in Chennai.
I may not be the competent person to answer to all queries or issues
raised due to my own limitations. But my strong feeling isthat
as far as India is concerned Hindi ,can never be replaced with any
language, for the importance explained/some reasons explained above.
I have personally observed gradual change in people here who are
now keen to learn more and more languages.
Have a wonderful day.
Suresh
Dear Ken:
By seeing the various types of comments in the timesofindia related above line, I recall a saying
It
means where six types of economists would gather, seven types of opinion will come up/ will be produced. What a resource to
know about individual feelings.!
Thanks.
Suresh
