Download an entire month's worth of lessons. We have all the lessons from May 2009 through October 2011 in zip files containing the audio files and a PDF with all the lessons. You can download these in the paid subscriber area.

If you are not already a paid subscriber, you should consider becoming one. It is only $12 every 3 months. That's only $4/month. Learning Hindi is worth much more than $4/month, so this is a great deal.

Words that rhyme!I was inspired to give poetry a whirl:
Pata nahi kyun aisi gahaari hai raat.
Humhe kisi ne nahi samajhai yeh baat.
Lekin parathvi ke dauran karte hai kaat,
Hum sote hain, Aap karte hain jaat.
Dear Torwood:
Excellent poem, I liked the first two lines. Kindly explain me the last two lines.(Lekin parathvi ke dauran karte hai kaat,
Hum sote hain, Aap karte hain jaat.), I did not understand this. The last word, is it not jaag.( awake?)?. If so, then
only third line may please be translated for me. Regards, Appreciate your sincere efforts. Suresh
But while the earth spins
We sleep and you are racing about.
(I took the word jaat from your list.)
Dear Torwood:
Suggestions: Good you responded, I appreciate. Some suggestions. To elucidate further, in addition
to the examples quotes in my voice in the lesson, I am indicating a few sentences.
पृथ्वी घूमती ( rotates) है | ( (Prithvee ghoomtee hai.) The earth spins.
गांधी जी चरखे से सूत काता करते थे ।( Gandhejee charkhey se soot kaataa kartey they.)
Gandhi used to spin the yarn with the spinning wheel.
कृपाचार्य ने कर्ण से पूछा कि तुम्हारी क्या जाति ( जात) है ? Krupchaarya ney Karna se poochaa ki tumhaaree kya jaati ( jaat)
hai.) Krupchaary asked Karna that what is your race/caste.? – relates to an interesting episode from Mahabharata.
I have plans to cover some short stories from Mahabharata in this site in the future. In leisure,do see
the possible episodes:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwnDC3_fVgM
With regard to जात ( jaat) race, I actually mean Caste ( for example in India
it was prevalent earlier, Hindus were divided into four castes, Brahmin( responsibility was to teach, pray),
Kshatria( warrior-also called Rajpoots i.e Kings’s son- Raja ka putr.), protect the lives of the people/subject), Vaishya ( to keep accounts)
Shudra( sweep, swab, etc.). You are aware Gandhijee fought in support of Untouchability.
Things are changing gradually here. A Brahmin may be poor, might be doing a server’s job to earn his livelihood.
A kshatriya might have taken up a clerical job to take care of his family..
You are most welcome to write to me whenever any question/doubts come up. I am there for you.
It is evident that you like poems, I enjoyed your writing. If I remember correctly, you
had once commented about a poem on Parrot (no.279) I had written. I have written a few poems for this
site, check lesson no.280, 325, 326. etc. Today I presented a list of lessons submitted/published in this
site so far which might help you to select a lesson per your choice.
with love,
Suresh

Suresh
