Let us look at  ड combined with each of these vowels अ आ इ ई उ ऊ ऋ ए ऐ ओ औ अं

ड् + अ  = ड डर (m) fear (related words:  डरना to fear, be afraid

डरपोक – timid, (m) timid person

डराना – to frighten, terrify)

ड् + आ =  डा  डाक (f) post

ड्+ इ = डि डिबिया (f) small box

ड्+ ई = डी डीज़ल (m) diesel

ड् + उ = डु डुबकी (f) dive

ड् + ऊ = डू  डूबना – to sink, to drown

ड् + ऋ  = डृ

ड् + ए =  डे डेढ़ – one and a half

ड् + ऐ =  डै डैना (m) wing of a bird

ड् + ओ = डो डोरी (f) string

ड् + औ =  डौ डौल (m) shape

ड् + अं = डं डंक (m) sting

ठ्+ आ =   ठा  ठाठ-बाट (m) pomp and show

ठ्+ इ = ठि  ठिकाना (m) place to stay

ठ् + ई = ठी   ठीक OK, all right; exactly

ठ् + उ = ठु ठुड्डी (f) chin

ठ् + ऊ = ठू   ठूसना – to stuff, to cram, to press tightly

ठ् + ऋ  =ठृ

Let us look at ज combined with each of these vowels: अ आ इ ई उ ऊ ऋ ए ऐ ओ औ अं

ज् + अ  = ज जब  – when (see the episode: कब or जब – when? or when. (1/6/2009))

ज् + आ =  जा जान – life/soul; dear one

ज् + इ = जि  जितना – as much/many as

ज् + ई = जी  जी- word of respect used after names.  Also you can use it in the phrases जी नहीं and जी हाँ as a polite way of saying ‘no’ and ‘yes’.

ज् + उ = जु  जुदा – separate

ज् + ऊ =  जू    जूता (m) – shoe; pair of shoes

ज् + ऋ  = जृ

ज् + ए =  जे  जेब (f) pocket  (related word:  जेबकतरा (m) pickpocket)

ज् + ऐ =   जै  जैसा of such a kind, like;

ज् + ओ = जो  जो who, which

ज् + औ =  जौ  जौहरी (m) jeweller

ज् + अं = जं  जंगल (m) jungle

जैसा करोगे,  वैसा पाओगे
