We have a cd set for learning English where you read the phrase and listen to the speaker, then repeat into the mic, and gain or lose points for your pronunciation. Anyone know any such sites for Hindi?

I think that would be a confidence booster. I remember studying French for years and going to France for a month only to be misunderstood and corrected, but by the end of that month, I was quite confident and learned a whole lot. That was two decades ago and I have studied several other languages since. So I have learned that there are many aspects of learning(reading/ writing), but making the actual communication breakthrough must not be delayed. I have one guy who will record a feedback for me, so he’ll read the same passage I did so that I can hear the native speaker do it, which is great. Not a lot of people do that. I’m considering asking for particular feedback before I start speaking the passage!

I still love my Rosetta Stone best. It has given me a great feel for the language and it does help my pronunciation. You can see a vocal chart showing what you do verses what the native speaker does. Just listening to so much in a native voice gets it deep in my subconscious.

I find Rosetta Stone just as motivating, because I love to get to the next section and see what it’s about and I thrive on grades. But, clearly it’s a personal thing and depends on the person what program you’d like best.

I have been using Rosetta Stone for almost 3 years! I love the way they teach, yet for me, I am missing out on the speaking part. I can understand films quite well, but I do not have any confidence in trying to speak. I need help in this area too.
