  • Hi All!
In India we are celebrating Dussehra.
    Happy Dussehra!

Dussehra, which is also known as Vijayadashmi (`Vijay` meaning `victory` and `Dashmi` meaning `tenth day`) is a popular festival celebrated by Hindus all over India, albeit with different names. It is called Vijaydashmi as it is believed that it was on this day that Lord Rama killed…[Read more]

    • Tina: Thanks for the great summary of Dussehra. My husband, who is American, asked me the purpose of the holiday and I must confess I was stumped. I said it had to do with the number 10 and Rama and Sita but that was all I knew. Your explanation was perfect and he is now satisfied! :-)

We are moving to India next summer too. We are both…[Read more]

      • Daxa,
In our case, my husband is the Indian (Canadian) and I am the American. We relocated to Goa ( from U.S.)5 years ago.
My husband is originally from Bombay but his parents were born and raised in Goa. We had come for a visit in 2000 and I fell in love with Goa.
You must be excited about making a shift! How long have you been in the U.S.?…[Read more]

  • This website is very nice for finding translations. It seems a bit more oriented towards the hindi speaker looking for English words…
